Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic, results-oriented Major Gifts Director (Consultant) to lead the development and execution of our major donor program. This is a part-time consulting role with the opportunity to make a significant impact by building and cultivating relationships with high-capacity donors and foundations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in major gifts fundraising, exceptional communication skills, strong community relationships, and a passion for empowering women leaders in politics.
Key Responsibilities:
Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Identify, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of major donors and prospects capable of contributing $10,000+ annually.
Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to grow the major gifts program, including setting annual revenue goals and tracking progress.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors, providing personalized stewardship and ensuring continued engagement with The First Ask’s mission.
Proposal Development: Craft compelling proposals, reports, and communications tailored to donor interests and priorities.
Events: Collaborate on the planning and execution of donor events, including exclusive briefings, receptions, and campaign updates.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director, key surrogates, and staff to align major gifts efforts with organizational goals.
Data Management: Maintain accurate donor records and track interactions using our NPG VAN to ensure effective follow-up and reporting.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in major gifts fundraising, with a successful track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts.
Strong understanding of donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship best practices.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate donors.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of political fundraising and compliance regulations is a plus.
Commitment to the mission of advancing gender equity and progressive leadership in politics.
Details:
Position Type: Part-time consultant, flexible hours.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
Location: Remote, with option to work in person from the Washington, DC office. Occasional travel as needed.
